city of lights
matt - 20/11/08

Last night’s City of Lights parade in Truro was really spectacular. The streets were rammed with thousands people watching the procession of lanterns, musicians and dancers in sparkly costumes. The highlight, as always, was the giant lantern scultures. This year they included a space ship (complete with Flash Gorden sound effects!), a ballet dancer, flying fairy, a hippo and an amazingly intricate triple figure (shown right), that was my favourite. Folks in these parts are a creative bunch!

locals for a fiver is back!
chloe - 13/11/08
Don’t miss out on Eden Project’s ‘Locals for a Fiver’ deal. Running throughout November (3rd - 27th) if you are a resident of Devon or Cornwall just take along proof of residence (something like a utility bill) and photo ID and get in for a fiver - a good trip out this weekend - especially as the ice rink has opened too - yahoooo!
ps - you need to book to skate and pay seperately. For more info check out www.edenproject.com

cotton growing!
chloe - 6/11/08
Debbie from Newquay Tretherras School sent us these pics of her organic cotton plants, grown on her windowsill from a Seasalt packet of cotton seeds. The second photo is of their school biome where they are hoping more will germinate!

snow joggers… moon boots are back!
matt – 30/10/08
Many moons ago, winter footwear was all about chunky, space age snow boots. And now, like Whispa bars and Grace Jones, they’re back and better than ever!
Snow Joggers have the classic moon boot look but with a trainer sole - so they’re comfortable for running around town as well as super warm and cosy.
As worn by Victoria Beckham, Jessica Alba, Paris Hilton and Sienna Miller… Snow Joggers come in funky chequered flannel or water resistant nylon.
Available instore only in our Falmouth, Truro, St Ives and Totnes branches – why not pop in and try a pair!

falmouth beach clean
liz 29/10/08
Braving the wind and rain on Thursday 24th October the Falmouth Seasalt girls with the help of The Waterfront Crew (9 lads from the Falmouth and Penryn area), PC Andy Hocking and PC Bill Wood completed their Beach Clean on Castle Beach.
A collection of paper, fishing lines, and small pieces of debris were all collected.
We would like to thank the Waterfront Crew for their help.
Hopefully our next Beach Clean will bring better weather!

An Autumn Swim in the West
neil chadwick: 25.10.08
Thanks for our lovely new poem, written for Seasalt by Philip Elston.
An Autumn Swim in the West
Step down from the town
to the seaweed-quenched frontier
where amber fronds dance in the frothy shallows.
Touch the waves and at once
touch all the oceans.
The footprints in the sand fill
with this salty world as the surf
swiftly swirls towards
the doorsteps of the town.
Walk into the waves and swim.
Alone in the water, free
as the town fades into the dusk.
